Jonah and his team are phenomenal. I looked at big companies and found the personalization and professionalism from Next Step Prep to be far superior. My son worked with the team SAT prep and raised his score 180 points. Unbelievable!
Jonah has been outstanding at helping my son with academic tutoring online. My son enjoys his sessions and is always impressed with Jonah’s knowledge and assistance. I recommend without any reservation. Outstanding!
Our Approach
Even if students have a good grasp of the material on the ACT/SAT, there are many reasons they might score below their potential: nerves, time pressure, trouble adapting to the way the questions are presented, etc.
By meeting our students where they are and adapting our instruction to how they learn most effectively, we teach high schoolers with learning differences how to score their very best on the test. We believe that we can be most helpful to students by focusing on improving the underlying skills the test is built around (e.g., reading comprehension, rhetoric, math fluency) in addition to test-specific strategies.
Not only is this approach useful for their studies outside of test prep, it also makes them resilient test-takers. On test day, we know our students will be able to demonstrate what they can do to the best of their ability without tricky wording or timing problems getting in their way.
Our Students
Our team of expert tutors is trained in working with a variety of learning differences, including ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and autism.
The ideal student is a high school junior with a diagnosed learning difference and an active IEP/504 plan who is planning on taking the ACT or SAT in the next six months. We work with a small number of seniors each year, but usually recommend that sophomores wait to test until their junior year.
Our Services
We offer two options for ACT/SAT prep: a one-on-one program and a small group program.
In our one-on-one program, we don’t charge by the hour, but by the result: a one-time flat fee for unlimited one-on-one and group tutoring sessions, until the student hits their goal score. Each student is assigned a team of two expert tutors and a program coordinator to get them to their goal score as effectively and quickly as possible.
The small group program is intended for hard-working high school students who didn’t score as high as they expected to score on the ACT or SAT. Each student works through a week-by-week ACT/SAT action plan tailored specifically to their needs and timeline. At the same time, they attend 1-3 weekly small group meetings to keep them on track and accountable with their work.
Pricing
Pricing on the one-on-one program is tailored to each individual student. In general, students can expect to spend 2-3 hours a week with their instructors and 2-3 hours a week on their homework for several months. Based on the length of the program and the number of hours we expect it to take, we generate an individual plan for each family. Prices range from $4,000 – $12,000, with average being around $5,000. While there isn’t an hourly rate, it usually works out to about $120 – $200/hr for instruction.
Our small group program fee is $197/mo, which covers the initial private meeting, the study plan, and as many weekly meetings as students are able to attend.
